The journey to creating this one-of-a-kind double sink began with a client’s sketch. The client had some specific features in mind:

- Integrated Sinks & Countertop: The design aimed to combine the sink and countertop into one seamless piece.

We meticulously crafted an integrated 3D model and successfully completed the construction of the finished freestanding pedestal sink.
Engineering Challenges: Making It Strong and Durable
The Challenges: Ensuring a Solid Structure
Creating a custom sink involves more than just aesthetics; it needs to be strong and long-lasting. We encountered two main challenges in ensuring that this double sink would be both beautiful and durable:
- Combining the Pedestal and Countertop: The first challenge was figuring out how to merge the pedestal basin and the countertop in a way that would be structurally sound for long-term use.
- Invisible Drainage Hole: The second challenge was the client’s request for an invisible drainage hole at the bottom of the sink, which also needed to be easily accessible for maintenance.
The Solutions: How We Overcame the Challenges
After identifying these challenges, our engineering team got to work on finding solutions.
- Structural Integrity: To tackle the first challenge, our team of experts from both the bathroom and workshop departments had multiple discussions. They decided to mold all the main parts separately and then glue them together. The countertop was designed to hang below the shape of the pedestal basin, and additional structure was added to the bottom. This ensured that the sink would be stable for long-term use.
- Invisible Yet Accessible Drainage Hole: For the second challenge, we used our engineering experience to come up with a smart solution. We crafted the basin first, made the hole, and then added an invisible Velcro structure in the center. This made the installation hole invisible yet easily accessible for maintenance.
- Door for Easy Access: To make the drainage hole easily accessible for installation and maintenance, we added a door at the bottom of each pedestal. This door serves as a convenient access point for any future repairs or adjustments.
